Bears sign Keidron Smith and place Anthony Johnson on practice squad injured list.

The Bears made two defensive practice-squad moves Friday, signing defensive back Keidron Smith and placing safety Anthony Johnson on the practice squad injured list.
Chicago’s official transactions ledger records both moves on September 18. Smith returns to the practice squad after the team released him from that group on September 12, while Johnson moves to the injured list after joining the practice squad earlier this month.
The moves change the bottom of Chicago’s defensive depth chart as the team prepares for Sunday’s home game against Minnesota. They do not change the active roster for the matchup, but they give the Bears a fresh practice-squad option at defensive back while removing Johnson from that week-to-week pool.

The transactions also show the roster work continuing behind a team that opened 1–0. Chicago can use its practice squad to manage depth during the season, and Friday’s entries provide the clearest official record of the status changes.
The Bears host the Vikings Sunday at noon Central. The team’s next public roster checkpoint will be the game-day elevation and inactive process tied to that matchup.
